Earlier this week, Steve Ballmer made a passing remark during his CES keynote that we would learn more about Windows Mobile 7 at the Mobile World Congress in February. Further confirmation apparently came from Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division President Robbie Bach who told analysts earlier this week that the company would show off Windows Mobile 7 at MWC. This is a bit sooner than had originally been expected.
Bach believes that Windows Mobile 7 will “set the bar forward not in (just) an evolutionary way.”. Microsoft is also going to get more engaged with its OEM partners (something it already promised).
My expectation is that Microsoft will do what it did with Windows Mobile 6.5. It will show it off at MWC and announce that devices running it will be available later in the year.
