Microsoft shows off XNA games for Windows Phone 7 Series

Microsoft showed off two 3D games for upcoming Windows Phone 7 Series devices to Engadget. The games were developed in XNA Game Studio 4 and one, The Harvest, was apparently built in less than three weeks.

The screenshots provided by Microsoft do show a lot of potential but some questions do remain. For example, neither game features full motion 3D camera moves (although it is possible according to Microsoft). Nonetheless, Windows Phone 7 Series devices could feature some sharp looking games.

For now developers can test in Windows but a Windows Phone 7 Series emulator is expected later. Developers who have already built games for XNA in VisualStudio should also find it “very, very easy” to port games over according to Microsoft.

A number of game studios, including Oberon, Sega, Glu, EA, Popcap, Namco, Konami and Microsoft Game Studios, have already signed on to develop new versions or games.
