If you found ‘Windows Phone 7 Series’ a bit of a mouthful, there is some good news tonight. Microsoft announced earlier today via Twitter that it has dropped the word Series from the name and will refer to its next mobile operating system as Windows Phone 7:
Tis the season for Series finales. We’ve got one too – dropping the ‘Series’ and keeping the ‘Windows Phone 7.’ Done.
I think the move makes sense. The term Series had implied that there would be different versions and could have confused customers. And it’s a bit less strain on the keyboard!
