Kobo eReader update coming soon and Kobo Reader for Android now available

Kobo today announced that it will release its first software upgrade for its Kobo eReader the week of June 28th. It will include improvements such as:

  • ePub Font resizing even for eBooks with fixed font sizes
  • The ability to hide the 100 free eBooks included with the device
  • Improved “Off” screen
  • A Sleep mode
  • Improved battery life and management

Kobo also announced that its Kobo Reader for Android is now available as well.

Just like other Kobo applications, Kobo for Android is designed to provide the best eReading experience to customers around the world. This announcement furthers Kobo’s goal of delivering any book on any device. The service’s open standards mean that customers can access and read their books from a variety of devices.

It joins similar apps for the iPhone as well as BlackBerry and Palm Pre devices.
