JooJoo tablet hits FCC and gets new UI

We’re still waiting for the JooJoo tablet to begin shipping but it appears to have another step forward by getting its FCC clearance. As often happens, the posted documents have shed some additional light on the upcoming device.

One of the new details revealed is that the JooJoo will use an Intel Atom N270 paired with an NVIDIA Ion GPU. It also sports a 3G card and SIM card slot. Could JooJoo be in talk with carriers to offer a 3G version?

Previously revealed specifications indicate that the JooJoo will come with a 12.1-inch capacitive touchscreen (offering 720p resolution), a 4GB SSD for local storage, Wi-Fi connectivity, a webcam, a USB port and a card slot. It will be powered by a UNIX web-based operating system which will boot directly into a browser. It will support full HD video playback and the battery should last about 5 hours with Wi-Fi on. It will weigh about 1.1 kilogram.

Engadget has also learned that JooJoo has revamped the user interface and improved the device controls. For example, a vertical swipe now brings down a status bar containing the home button, status indicators, browser navigation controls, and a combination address bar and search field.
