According to Digitimes sources, HTC is expecting to shop 8.5 million smartphones in the last quarter of 2010. Among the new devices it is shipping are the Android-powered Desire HD and Desire Z and four Windows Phone 7 devices (a fifth, the HTC 7 Pro will follow early next year). These shipment targets are nothing new. Rumours dating back to July suggested such numbers.
HTC’s shipment targets could have been higher were it not for key component shortages. Without those, HTC woud have aimed to ship as many as 10 million smartphones in the quarter.
HTC is aiming to ship 40 million devices in 2011.
