Sprint yesterday announced that the HTC EVO 4G, which went on sale on June 4th, has become its best selling device over a one day period, eclipsing past record holders such as the Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre. In fact, the HTC EVO 4G launch day sales were six times that of the Samsung Instinct and nearly twice that of the Palm Pre launch days.
“HTC EVO 4G is a clear winner for customers with the powerful combination of an amazing multimedia experience in 3G coverage areas that becomes even better in our growing number of 4G markets. It is terrific to see customers react so positively to this device and the innovative experience it brings to them,” said Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO.
Sprint’s initial press release overstated the launch day sales figures, claiming that “the total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold on launch day was three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined.”
Sales have been so strong that a number of sales locations have reported selling out. Sprint is shipping additional devices on a regular basis with many locations receiving daily deliveries.
Sprint is offering the HTC EVO 4G for US$199.99 after a US$100 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract.
