HTC could ship up to 24 milion smartphones in 2010

With rumours of upcoming devices such as the HTC Ace, HTC Vision and HTC Gold, HTC could have a very successful second half of the year. According to Digitimes sources, its shipments could jump by 60 to 70 percent in the second half of the year with shipments reaching up to 24 million devices by the end of the year.

One challenge that HTC may have to overcome in reaching this target will be component shortages. For example, AMOLED displays have been constrained and some devices, such as the HTC Incredible, are facing shipment delays. Should further shortages occur, HTC may not be able to ship as many devices as it could otherwise.

In the first half of the year, HTC shipped about 8.7 million smartphones. As a quick comparison, Apple shipped about the same number of iPhones in Q1 2010 alone.
