HTC acquires mobile developer Abaxia

HTC today announced it has acquired Abaxia, a mobile application development company. The French company specializes in tools that let carriers and device manufacturers develop customized home pages. For example, a carrier could use Abaxia’s tools to deliver consistent home pages with customized services across a variety of devices and mobile operating systems.

“HTC is committed to creating the best possible mobile experience for our customers today, tomorrow and into the future,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. “The addition of Abaxia deepen and broaden our software development capabilities so that we can innovate at an even faster pace.”

The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. According to a Wall Street Journal report, HTC paid €11 million (about US$13.2 million) for Abaxia.
