Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam confirmed that the company is working with Google on a tablet device.
“What do we think the next big wave of opportunities are?” Mr. McAdam said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “We’re working on tablets together, for example. We’re looking at all the things Google has in its archives that we could put on a tablet to make it a great experience.”
While McAdam provided no details about the device or when we could see it, a Verizon spokesperson later revealed that the device would run Google’s Android OS and that the carrier will release more details later this week. With Google I/O just around the corner, an announcement about Android moving to tablet devices is plausible (and something already rumoured about in the past).
Verizon and Google’s relationship got off to a good start with the launch of DROID by Motorola, its first Android-powered smartphone.
