The Google Nexus One was only released last week but at leat one market analyst sees great things in its future. Barclay Capital’s Doug Anmuth expects that Google could sell as many as six million units in 2010. This would translate into revenues of over US$3.1 billion for Google. Not too shabby for a company that makes most of its revenues from online advertising.
The Google Nexus one would become the most successful Android phone to date should it meet Anmuth’s goal. It would also demonstrate how quickly Android is being adopted by carriers and customers. For example, the T-Mobile G1, the first Android phone to be released, sold about 1 million units in its first year.
Google may well become a credible player in the mobile device space in 2010, especially with its plans to launch a second phone aimed at the enterprise space.
