Back when Google unveiled the Nexus One, it also promised that it would soon release Google Earth for Android. Google has now delivered on its promise and Google Earth for mobile is now available from the Android Market. But there’s a catch: It is only available for devices running Google Android 2.1, leaving all Android devices except the Google Nexus One out in the cold for now. Interestingly, Google is promising that a version for the Motorola DROID is coming soon.
Google Earth for mobile comes with features such as multi-touch, search by voice, and local search. It also supports layers (including roads, borders, Panoramio photos) and the ability to see the same 3D imagery and terrain as on the desktop version.
Google Earth for mobile is also available for the Apple iPhone.
