Google Android market tops 38,000 applications

Google Android Market

As part of its first quarter 2010 financial results announcement today (revenues of US$5.06 billion and net income of US$1.96 billion for the quarter), Google revealed that the Android Market now offers more than 38,000 applications. Last month alone it added some 8,000 applications. There are twice now twice as many applications as there were in December 2009.

Google also indicated that some 60,000 Android devices are now being activated every day (translating to just under 22 million devices a year). This will certainly help the Android Market continue its impressive growth (although the App Store is still much further ahead with over 100,000 applications as of last November).
