TechCrunch has obtained new details on what we could find in Google Android 2.2 (codename Froyo). Two new features we can expect are USB tethering and the ability to turn your Android device into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
It remains to be seen if carriers will support these new features or move to either charge extra for them or simply disable them.
Froyo is shaping up to be quite the upgrade. Earlier rumours also indicated that it would offer full Flash support, significant performance improvements (thanks to JIT compilation in the kernel), and a number of other features.
Google Android 2.2 is expected to be unveiled as part of next week’s Google I/O event.
