Earlier rumours that the Google Android 2.1 update for the HTC Hero had slipped to March have been realized. A Dutch HTC press release confirms that the update will be available in “mid-March.”
The update will also add Bluetooth 2.1 support, a new Stream-Friend widget that centralizes all contact status updates, an improved HTC Exchange client, a Android Market Parking Timer widget, a Translator widget and a new ringtone.
It remains to be seen which regions will receive the update and if and when carrier-specific updates (for example TELUS or Sprint) will be made available.
