Fortune is the latest to throw its weight behind rumours that the Apple iPhone is headed to Verizon in early 2011. In an article that focuses on Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg, it states: “Fortune has confirmed that a Verizon iPhone will be released in early 2011.” Strong words, I say.
Verizon began to sell the Apple iPad earlier this week, a move hinting at closer relations between the two companies.
Market analysts think that Verizon could sell up to 9 million iPhones in 2011 alone. In comparison, some 22 million have been sold in the US so far. Would either company want to pass up such an opportunity?
There is no word on specific availability. An announcement could come at CES 2011 especially given that Seidenberg is expected to deliver a keynote at the event.
