New details have emerged about the upcoming Verizon DROID 2. A Droid-Life.com reader recently got to spend a bit of time with the device and indicated that the device came with a 1GHz processor and Android 2.2 (Froyo). It also came with the same Blur interface as on the DROID X. The redesigned keyboard was described as ‘phenomenal.’
Meanwhile, Engadget is reporting that a trusted source has revealed that the DROID 2 will launch on August 12th rather than the 23rd as earlier rumours had suggested. It will be a soft launch with marketing efforts to start on the 23rd. There could even be a Star Wars themed edition of the phone with a white R2-D2 on the back.
Pricing is rumoured to be US$199 with a two-year contract or US$599 without any contract.
