AndroidAndMe.com is reporting that a “trustworthy source” has tipped them that Verizon will launch the Motorola DROID 2 on August 23rd.
Specs-wise, the DROID 2 could be quite similar to the Verizon DROID X by Motorola except for the additional slide-out QWERTY keyboard. While leaked specifications to date suggest that current test units come with Android 2.1, the final version is expected to come with Android 2.2 right out of the box.
Pricing for the DROID 2 has not been revealed but AndroidAndMe.com expects it to fall around US$199 with a two-year contract.
