During its Windows Phone 7 launch event, Microsoft today confirmed that cut-and-paste functionality will be added to Windows Phone 7 in early 2011. Microsoft also promised that all devices announced today will receive this update. Best of all, the update will be pushed out by Microsoft itself, eliminating carriers as middlemen and hopefully speeding up the delivery of the update.
Microsoft is still working out exactly how cut-and-paste will work but it appears that it will work much as it does on the Apple iPhone. Users would first click on a word and expand or contract their selection before they decide to copy or cut it. Users would then tap a paste icon or button to paste the text to a new location.
Microsoft confirmed back in March that cut-and-paste would not make the original Windows Phone 7 release.
