The rumours were correct: Canada is home to another wireless brand today. chatr wireless is now live in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa and soon in Montreal.
“Canadians have indicated they want unlimited talk and text with simple, worry-free plans on a network that is trusted to deliver quality service,” said Garrick Tiplady, Senior Vice President, chatr. “With chatr, customers will have a no worry, talk happy experience.”
As expected, chatr is offering two plans: A CA$35 Unlimited Talk plan and a CA$45 unlimited Talk & Text plan with specific ‘chatr zones’. With no contracts, customers can opt for the ‘auto-pay’ pre-authorized payment service or the ‘self-pay’ option where customers top up every month (via credit card or top-up voucher from a chatr wireless retail location).
As expected, chatr does not offer data services.
Four devices are currently being offered: The Essential (Nokia 1661) for CA$49.99, the Flip (LG GB125R) for CA$69.99, the Slider (Nokia 2680) for CA$89.99, and the QWERTY (Samsung Gravity) for CA$149.99.
You will find chatr stores in major malls as well as partners such as Wireless Wave, Future Shop, Best Buy, Telephone Booth, London Drugs, Wireless Etc…(Costco), and Zellers.
