It appears that people will need to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the BlackBerry Torch 9800 here in Canada. Originally expected on September 24th from a number of carriers, it appears that there have been a few delays. For example, Bell has changed its launch date to October 1st and TELUS still lists it as “Coming Soon” (with no further mention of the initial 24th date).
Rogers Wireless’ plans appear clearer thanks to a MobileSyrup.com source. According to them, online orders will begin on September 24th. Rogers Wireless stores will only start receiving the Torch 9800 starting on September 27th and quantities will be limited initially.
The source has also revealed pricing. As expected, pricing starts at CA$199.00 with a three-year voice and data plan. Prices climb to CA$529.99 with a two-year voice and data plan, CA$559.99 with a one-year contract, and CA$609.99 with no contract.
Update: Rogers has confirmed that the Canadian launch of the BlackBerry Torch 9800 has been pushed back to September 30th. Bell has also changed the launch date from October 1st release date to a generic ‘Coming Soon’ on its Torch landing page.
