Best Buy to carry Amazon Kindle

Amazon Kindle

Following a similar move by Staples, Best Buy has announced plans to carry the Amazon Kindle line-up later this fall. The Kindle Wi-Fi and Kindle 3G will be available first with the Kindle DX to follow “later in the season.” They will join other eReaders already offered by the retailer, including the Barnes & Noble’s Nook and Sony’s Reader.

“There’s no question that e-readers have found their rightful place in today’s digital lifestyle,” said Chris Homeister, senior vice president and general manager of Home Entertainment for Best Buy. “Our goal is to help people choose the device that’s right for them by providing the broadest selection of popular e-readers of any retailer, in one convenient place that enables people to easily see, touch, try and buy.”

Displays allowing customers to compare the different devices will be strategically placed at the end of store aisles.

It’s not clear at this point whether Best Buy Canada will follow suit later and offer the Kindle in Canadian stores.
