Over the past few days, both Bell Mobility (including its Virgin subsidiary) and Rogers Wireless have temporarily stopped sales of the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2372 Mobile Hotspot due to concerns about swelling batteries. Both have also reached out to existing customers and asked them to return the battery and device cover. These will be replaced with new ones. Bell has even gone as far as deactivating all Novatel Wireless MiFi 2372 devices.
Bell and Rogers have sent out pre-addressed, prepaid envelopes to allow customers to return their device to Novatel. Rogers expects that customers will receive replacements within 7 to 10 business days. They will also issue a credit for the inconvenience. Bell is expecting that it will take between 6 and 8 weeks for replacements to take place. In the meantime, it is providing customers with a loaner Novatel U998 Turbo Stick.
For further information, Bell customers can call the dedicated Novatel MiFi Client Care team at 1-800-611-6600. Rogers customers can call at 1-888-764-3771.
