CBC News is reporting that Canadians will be able to buy the Apple iPhone 4 unlocked and free of any contract when it goes on sale here on July 30th. Users will then be able to pick which carrier they want to use without having to sign any contract. They will also be able to switch carriers (including while traveling) simply by changing SIM cards.
Unfortunately, the privilege of doing so will not come without cost. The 16GB iPhone 4 model will sell for CA$659 while the 32GB version will cost CA$779.
Canadian carriers are expected to offer the iPhone 4 locked to their network with prices fall in the range of CA$199 for the 16GB model and CA$299 for the 32GB model with the traditional three-year contract.
