Apple has just announced that it will hold a press conference on Friday, July 16th. Apple has released few details except to indicate that it concerns the Apple iPhone 4. It is very likely that Apple will address the antenna fiasco that has plagued the device since its launch (culminating in Consumers Report being unable to recommend the device and a growing PR disaster).
The Cellular Guru is reporting (albeit with a note of caution) that one of its sources suggests that Apple could rotate the antenna bands so that the seam that appears to be the cause of all these issues would end up in the top right corner of the handset. While there will be no formal recall, Apple will replace any iPhone taken back to the store.
Another possible option is that Apple will simply announce that it will give away a free bumper (normally selling for US$29) to eliminate the risk of touching the antenna seam.
Or perhaps Apple will simply announce that the white iPhone 4 is finally shipping…
