Apple today announced that it had sold one million iPads since its launch on April 3rd.
“One million iPads in 28 days – That’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.”
Apple also revealed that over 12 million apps had already been downloaded from the App Store and over 1.5 million ebooks from the new iBookstore.
Apple did not break out results for the Wi-Fi only and just released 3G models but Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster estimated that Apple may have already sold some 300,000 iPad Wi-Fi + 3G models.
Apple is expected to announce international pricing and start taking pre-orders for the Apple iPad on May 10th. Hopefully we will not see further delays due to supply issues.
