The oft-rumored Google Android 2.1 update for the TELUS Mobility HTC Hero may finally be soon upon us (assuming you have not rooted or traded it in for a Desire by now). The last rumours suggested it would be out in early August but that has come and gone without any word from TELUS.
Now buried in the HTML code for the HTC Hero page on the TELUS web site is the vague promise that it will soon be released: “Coming soon – upgrade to Android 2.1!” It will include:
- Flash support 4.0 to view rich web pages with embedded videos
- Google Maps Navigation
- Voice-dialer
- Multi-Touch navigation
- People Group Widget
Unfortunately, TELUS has yet to give any sense of a specific timeframe. MobileSyrup.com sources now suggest that it could be available in “early Q4” at the latest.
