Engadget has learned that the next Motorola DROID OTA update will be based on Google Android 2.1. The update is to include:
- Multi-touch support for the browser
- Including of Google Goggles
- Current Android 2.0.1 home screen with drawer tab to remain
- No active wallpapers
- Addition of news and weather widgets
It’s not clear why some functionality from Android 2.1 will not be included but it could well be tied to the hardware requirements.
There is no word yet on when Verizon will begin to push out the new update.
Update: Motorola has now confimed that it will begin to deploy the Google Android 2.1 update this week. According to to their official Facebook page:
