Acer could launch up to three Android 3.0 tablets in early 2011 if Digitimes sources are correct. 5-inch, 7-inch, and 10-inch models are planned but Acer is still deciding between using a Qualcomm Snapdragon or a Nvidia Tegra 2 processor.
The 5-inch model appears to follow in the Dell Streak‘s footsteps with characteristics of both smartphones and tablets. It would likely be offered in partnership with wireless carriers.
Acer also appears set to launch a Windows 7 tablet powered by an Intel processor to gauge overall tablet demand. It appears that Acer is adopting a strategy similar to HP’s in which they will dip a toe into the tablet market first before coming out with additional devices based on more specialized operating systems (such as webOS and the reportedly tablet-optimized Android 3.0).
