According to Tom’s Guide (a french site), Nokia will unveil a new naming convention for its smartphones at the Mobile World Congress next week. It is also expected to unveil a number of new models, including the N8-00.
First up, assuming that this is accurate, there will be five broad phone categories:
- C: Entry-level focused on voice
- X: Focus on music and other entertainment services for younger market
- E: Business and email focus
- N: High-end devices
- S: Very high-end and limited edition devices
As for the N8-00, it promises to be an interesting device. It would be the first device to run Symbian 3 and would come with a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, a 12MP camera capable of capturing 720p video at 30FPS, and an HDMI port. It would also support video-on-demand through the OVI Store. It could be available as early as the summer.
