A completely new device from Hewlett-Packard has surfaced on what appears to be a leaked AT&T roadmap that Engadget has gotten their hands on. The last two handsets that HP released, the iPAQ Data Messenger and iPAQ Voice Messenger, have yet to make it to North America. The iPAQ K3 (codenamed Obsidian) could be the first new North American HP handset since the iPAQ 910 (first announced back in September 2007).
The iPAQ K3 will be powered by a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7200A processor and Windows Mobile 6.5. It will come with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band (850/1900/2100MHz) UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, a 2.8-inch QVGA display, 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM, GPS, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a QWERTY thumb keyboard, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an optional 2MP camera, and a 1400mAh battery.
The iPAQ K3 is far from the most exciting device out there but it is good to see that HP appears ready to continue playing in this space.
Look for a launch on the AT&T network on November 30th. Hopefully, we will see a formal announcement from HP earlier than that.
