The upcoming Eee PC phone that has been rumoured for some time now has finally been confirmed by Jonney Shih, the chairman of ASUSTek, in an interview with The New York Times.
Shih sees a future where almost every flat surface could become a display. Not only will families will use televisions to surf the Web and watch Internet content but that content will also be available on displays built into walls and mirrors. When asked why, he replied,
“Because you want to blend it into your life. You already watch the mirror.”
And the key to manage all this will likely be a mobile phone. That’s where the upcoming Eee phone will come into play. From its humble beginnings as a low-cost smartphone, it may grow to become an interactive control.
Shih gave no details about the Eee phone such as specifications but earlier rumours suggest that we could see it as early as March.
