A day after Bell, TELUS turned the switch on its HSPA network today. With the new network come some new devices and new voice and data plans. Many of the details (devices and Clear Choice plans) have been known for a while now but here is a summary.
For the launch, TELUS is offering a number of devices including:
- Apple iPhone 3GS and 3G – CA$299 / CA$199 / CA$99 for the 32GB iPhone 3GS, 16GB iPhone 3GS and 8GB iPhone 3G respectively
- HTC Hero – starting at CA$99.99
- RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700 – starting at CA$249.99
- Nokia E71 – starting at CA$29.99
- LG New Chocolate – starting at CA$99.99
- Sierra Wireless 306 Mobile Internet Key- Starting at CA$79.99
The new Clear Choice plans come in four categories: Smartphone plans, iPhone plans, feature phone plans and Internet Key plans. All of these do away with the much-disliked System Activation Fees (SAF) and carrier 911 fees. For example, smartphone plans start at CA$50 per month for 100 anytime minutes, free options (such as double local minutes, 1000 outgoing text messages, or unlimited text or unlimited local calling and text with 5 Favourite Numbers), 500MB of data, unlimited evenings and weekends after 2100, Voice Mail 3, Call Waiting and Conference Calling.
