In a statement about its latest financial results, Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile’s parent company, has revealed that its U.S. subsidiary has sold one million Android-powered G1 mobile phones. T-Mobile launched the G1 back in October 2008.
Due to rising demand for 3G services, T-Mobile is looking to continue the build out of its 3G network. To date, it has 1.5 million 3-G capable devices on its network. That means that the G1 accounts for two thirds of all T-Mobile 3G devices.
T-Mobile is widely expected to unveil its second Android-powered device, the G2, shortly. At one point, rumours suggested it would be unveiled on April 21st but that event turned out to be the unveiling of the Sidekick LX.
