Google Android

T-Mobile has begun to push out an over-the-air update for devices powered by Google Android. The Android 1.6 (codename Donut) is being pushed to T-Mobile’s G1 and myTouch 3G customers. It will take T-Mobile a few days to complete the process.

Not considered a major update, Android 1.6 still contains some interesting new features and enhancements:

  • An improved Android Market experience that makes it easier to discover great applications.
  • An integrated camera, camcorder, and gallery interface.
  • Updated Voice Search, with faster response and deeper integration with native applications, including the ability to dial contacts.
  • Updated search experience that make it easier to search various sources, such as browser bookmarks & history, contacts, and the web, directly from the home screen.
  • A fix for an issue causing a system reboot after calling 911.

Google released the SDK for Android 1.6 in mid-September.
