Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 delayed to January 2010

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2

Sony Ericsson has confirmed that the Windows Mobile 6.5-powered XPERIA X2 will not be available this year as it had originally announced. Instead it will launch in the first week of January 2010.

The software worked fine but when we started integrating it with some of the network specific apps it threw up a few issues which we’re working to fix.

It’s all minor tweaks really (extending the battery life and speeding up aspects of the software), but we want to be sure that when we ship this it is as good as it should be and that you don’

t have to constantly upgrade the software as we iron out these wrinkles.

The XPERIA X2 will be powered by Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional with XPERIA Panels interface. It will come with quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band (850/1900/2100MHz for the X2 or 900/1900/2100MHz for the X2a) UMTS/HSPA connectivity (HSUPA as well on the X2), a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2-inch WVGA touchscreen display, up to 110MB of internal memory, aGPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with A2DP, stereo speakers, an 8.1MP camera with autofocus and geotagging, TV-out support, a microSDHC card slot (cards up to 16GB supported).

Sony Ericsson still has not released any information on pricing.
