This year’s Mobile World Congress kicked off a bit early with Sony Ericsson announing the W995 Walkman mobile phone.

The Sony Ericsson W995 comes with quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual-band (900/2100MHz) UMTS/HSPA connectivity, a 2.6-inch QVGA display, a slide-out keypad, 118MB of built-in memory, AGPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (with A2DP), an 8.1MP camera with auto-focus and 16x digital zoom, an FM radio with RDS, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and support for Memory Stick Micro cards. It also comes with a built-in stand and built-in stereo speakers.
Sony Ericsson also announced the W995a, which shares similar specifications except for the tri-band (850/1800/1900MHz) UMTS/HSPA connectivity. It will be available in Progressive Black, Cosmic Silver and Energetic Red.
Both the W995 and W995a will be available in Q2 2009 in selected markets. Pricing information was not revealed.
