RIM announced its latest BlackBerry device today, the CDMA-based BlackBerry Tour (model 9630).

The new BlackBerry Tour smartphone offers state-of-the-art communications and multimedia capabilities with outstanding mobile performance and consummate styling. It is a feature-packed and highly refined world phone that keeps you connected and lets you tour the world in style.

The specifications line up with what had been leaked earlier. The BlackBerry Tour is a world phone that comes with support for both CDMA and GSM-based bands – dual-band EV-DO Rev. A, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and single-band (2100MHz) UMTS/HSDPA. It comes with a 2.44-inch half VGA+ (480 by 360 at 245ppi) display, 256MB of Flash memory, a built-in QWERTY thumb keyboard, built-in GPS (with geo-tagging support), Bluetooth 2.0 (with A2DP), a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 3.2MP camera with auto-focus, an SDHC card slot supporting cards up to 16GB, and a 1400mAh battery. It measures 112 by 62 by 14.2 millimeters and weighs 130g.

The BlackBerry Tour will be available later this summer from a number of North American carriers (including TELUS, Bell Mobility, and Verizon).
