A lot of attention (including here) has been spent on Globalive and its struggles to get its WIND Mobile branch launched. But a number of other new companies are also getting ready to launch. Among them is Public Mobile which is steadily building momentum.
Back in February, they unveiled their brand name and in September, they unveiled their plans and first phone, the ZTE C78 candybar feature phone.
Earlier this month, they launched their blog and are steadily increasing their posting frequency. Recent postings are starting to reveal more information about what they will offer and their vision. For example, they revealed that they hope to have a number of phones available at launch time and that customers would not be able to reuse old CDMA phones on their network. It also looks like they will not offer data plans at launch. Today, they shed some light on what they mean by unlimited (and it’s not ‘unlimited but’).
Public Mobile is expected to launch in Toronto and Montreal in late 2009.
