Pharos unveiled the Pharos Traveler 137 GPS Smartphone back in January and promised that it would be available in late Q1. It’s taken a bit longer than that but it is finally available in North America. It looks like FCC approval took a bit longer than expected.
The Traveler 137 is powered by a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7201A processor and Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with the SPB Mobile Shell user interface. It comes with quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band (1700/1900/2100MHz) UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity, a 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen display, 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM, built-in GPS, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v2.1+EDR, FM radio, a 3MP camera, a 0.3MP secondary camera, a microSDHC slot, and a 1380mAh battery.
The Pharos Traveler 137 will sell unlocked for about US$599.99. For example, it is available from Expansys USA (US$559.99). In Canada, it is available from Expansys Canada (CA$659.99) and Dell Canada (CA$599.00).
