Palm announced today that the Palm Pre will be available in the UK, Ireland and Germany via O2 and in Spain through Movistar in time for the holidays.
“Europe continues to be an important region for Palm, and we’re proud to work with O2 and Movistar to spread the excitement Palm Pre has already ignited in North America,” said Jon Rubinstein, Palm chairman and chief executive officer. “Since we showed Palm Pre at Mobile World Congress in February, there’s been a great deal of anticipation for an announcement about European availability, and that day is here.”
The Palm Pre to be released in Europe will be the GSM variant. It will support GSM/GPRS/EDGE and HSDPA/UMTS connectivity. Other than that, it will be the same as the CDMA version: a 3.1-inch HVGA touchscreen display with a ‘gestures area’, a slide-out QWERTY (QWERTZ in Germany) keyboard, 8GB of internal storage, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Blueooth 2.1+EDR with A2DP, built-in GPS, accelerometer, proximity and light sensors, a 3MP camera with LED flash, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a removable battery.
Pricing information has not been released yet.
