Orascom Chairman Naguib Sawiris revealed today that he expects that the CRTC ruling against Globalive’s ownership structure will be overturned by Industry Canada Minister Tony Clement.
“We are optimistic about getting up and running after resolving issues with the regulator”, Chairman Naguib Sawiris said at a media conference in Cairo today. “We think the ruling will be overruled.”
Last week, members of the wireless industry were asked for further comments into the decision. A deadline of November 18th was set for this feedback, suggesting that we could know shortly after whether there will be a full cabinet review.
Should the CRTC decision be overturned, Orascom expects that Globalive will have its WIND Mobile brand up and running before the end of the year.
