Shortly after confirming its interest in moving into the netbook market, Nokia announced the Nokia Booklet 3G, its first such product. Rather than calling it a netbook though, Nokia describes it as a mini-laptop.
“A growing number of people want the computing power of a PC with the full benefits of mobility,” said Kai Oistamo, Nokia’s Executive Vice President for Devices. “We are in the business of connecting people and the Nokia Booklet 3G is a natural evolution for us. Nokia has a long and rich heritage in mobility and with the outstanding battery life, premium design and all day, always on connectivity, we will create something quite compelling. In doing so we will make the personal computer more social, more helpful and more personal.”
The Nokia Booklet 3G is powered by an Intel processor and Windows. It will come with a range of connectivity options including including 3G/HSPA and Wi-Fi, integrated A-GPS, Bluetooth, a 10-inch HD display, a webcam for video calling, an HDMI port for HD video out, and an SD card slot. It will weigh 1.25 kilograms and will be no thicker than 2 centimeters (.78 inches).
Availability and pricing information will be revealed on September 2nd at Nokia World.
