Nokia to delay U.S. launch of Comes With Music service?

Nokia

Forbes is reporting that Nokia will not launch its ‘Comes With Music’ service in the U.S. until 2010. Nokia’s music service is currently available in a number of countries, including the UK where it launched in late 2008. A 2009 U.S. launch had been promised.

Nokia’s Comes With Music, offered on selected phones, allows users to download an unlimited number of tracks during a period of time (between 12 to 18 months usually). Users can keep these songs once the contract expires.

While Nokia did not provide any explanation for the delay, speculation suggests that the service has not met with Nokia’s expectations where it is being offered. The delay may allow Nokia to retool its approach to ensure a more successful launch when it does enter the U.S. market.
