The Nokia E72, the successor to the successful E71, has received FCC approval. Best of all, the approval is for the North American version with support for the 850MHz band (suitable for AT&T and Rogers Wireless).
The Nokia E72 is very similar to the E71 but replaces the former’s directional pad is replaced with an optical trackpad and gets a 5MP camera and 3.5mm headphone jack. It supports HSDPA speeds up to 10.2Mbps (not that this will matter in North America). On the software side, it now comes with the Nokia E75’s email client, the ability to set up IM accounts directly from the homescreen, and a new version of QuickOffice offering Microsoft Office 2007 compatibility.
There is no word yet on availability and pricing in North America but it should sell for around US$500 (without contract) based on European pricing.
