Boy Genius Report sources have revealed details on what could be Motorola’s first Android-powered phone. The source also reveals a number of details about the Calgary (presumably its development codename).
The Calgary will apparently come with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen display. There will be a focus on social networking, suggesting a set of matching set of applications (e.g., Facebook).
Motorola is also apparently scrapping two upcoming phones. The Flash, a Windows Mobile iPhone-like device, and the Inferno have been dropped to allow the company to focus more on the phones it expects will be profitable. Among those will be the Rolex, another luxury phone similar to the Aura. The Rolex will feature the same rounded display as the Aura but will be made almost entirely of hardened glass.
The Calgary could be out as early as Q2 and one picture suggests it could be headed to Verizon. There is no word on pricing at this point.
