A leaked 2009 HTC roadmap teased us with a number of upcoming devices but provided precious few details about them. Fortunately, a new leak has remedied that. Here is a closer look.
The HTC Whitestone, to be part of the HTC Touch family, will be powered by a 528MHz Qualcomm 7600 processor and Windows Mobile 6.1 (presumably Professional). It will also come with both GSM and EVDO connectivity, a 3.6-inch WVGA display, 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM, GPS/A-GPS, and a 5MP camera. Expect a September release over at Verizon.
The HTC Firestone will succeed the HTC Touch HD. It will be powered by a 600MHz Qualcomm 8250 processor and Windows Mobile 6.5 (presumably Professional). It will also come with GSM/HSPA connectivity, a 3.6-inch WVGA display, 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM, and HTC’s first 8MP camera. Look for an August release date.
The HTC Thoth will succeed the Athena. It will be powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm 8250 processor and Windows Mobile 6.5 (presumably Professional). It will pack a 4.8-inch WVGA display, 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM, and a 5MP camera. A formal announcement appears set for September.
The HTC Twin will be powered by two processors, a 528MHz Qualcomm 7501A processor and a TI Locosto processor. It will come with both GSM and CDMA connectivity, a VGA display (size unknown), 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM, and a 3.2MP camera. It should offered by China Telecom starting in July 2009.
Lastly, there is the HTC Maple already glimpsed earlier. It will be powered by a528MHz Qualcomm 7225 processor and Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard. It will come with a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM, and a 2MP camera. It is expected in May.
There is a CDMA variant of the HTC Maple, the HTC Cedar. But it appears to have been canceled.
