It appears that a launch of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 (codename Onyx) and Curve 8520 is imminent at Rogers Wireless. Leaked screenshots show the two systems in Rogers’ upgrade system.
Leaked specifications of the Bold 9700 suggest a device with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, a display running at 480 by 360, 256MB of application memory, 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 3.2MP camera and improved battery life. The traditional QWERTY keyboard is there but the trackball will be replaced by a new trackpad. It is expected to be powered by BlackBerry OS 5.0.
Rumours suggest a release date of October for both with the Curve 8520 leading off in early October and the Bold later in the month. There is no word yet on pricing.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is also headed to T-Mobile. An official picture has surfaced, essentially confirming it.
