It looks like i-mate has reached the end of the road. According to ITP, the company has gone out of business. Employees at its office in Dubai Internet City were apparently told to take a compulsory two-month unpaid leave earlier in the week. Now the office doors are locked and CEO Jim Morrison has apparently left the country.
Things started to go downhill after it lost its sole OEM, HTC. i-mate found new suppliers but struggled to bring its products to market. Product announcements were followed by delays, cancellations (do you remember the Ultimate and the Urban lines?) and financial difficulties continuously plagued the company.
After releasing some 25 Windows Mobile devices since its inception in 2001, it appears that the ruggedized i-mate 810-F smartphone is to be the last i-mate device we will ever see.
