After being launched by O2 as the Xda Guide, the HTC Iolite has also been formally launched by HTC as the new HTC Touch Cruise, an update to 2008’s popular HTC GPS device of the same name.
The new HTC Touch Cruise is powered by a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor and Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with HTC TouchFLO. It also comes with quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual-band (900/2100MHz) HSPA connectivity, a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM, GPS/A-GPS, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, a microSDHC slot, a 3.2MP camera, and a 1100mAh battery.
The new HTC Footprints button and application allows people to capture a digital photo and attach notes, audio clip and geographical information.
The new HTC Touch Cruise will be available in spring 2009. Pricing was not revealed.
Quick question for HTC’s marketing: Have you already run out of names that you had to reuse the same name? Could you not have slapped a ‘2’ after it at least?
